Features :

I- Create and open a game : 
 
1) Create a new game


Click on "New" button into the main toolbar. This will open the window to create your personal game.




  • Choose the name of my game : you can enter the name you wish on the text field. You can't create your game if there already is a directory with the same name.
  • Choose the path/directory of my game : click on the "..." button to choose the path/directory where you will build your project.

2) Open a game


Click on "Open" button into the main toolbar. This will open the window to select your project.



Select the ".rpgpapermakeredit" file extension into the directory with the name of your game to run your project.

3) Open a recent game




You can open a recent created/opened game quicklier by clicking on File > Open a game > <your game path>. This submenu memorize at most 3 different paths that are placed in order of your recent uses.


Or... you can just drag and drop your file into the GUI (interface).





II- Manage maps

/!\ Don't ever try to directly edit your "Maps" directory. It could cause some virtual hierarchy problems.

1) Create a new directory for maps



Right-click on a directory ("Map selector" is a main directory) and to click on "New directory...". This will create a new sub-directory with the automatic name "Directory number_of_directories". You can't create a new directory into a map.






2) Set the name of a directory


Right-click on a directory and select "Set directory name". You can also select the directory and press enter to start editing. To end editing, press enter or click somewhere else.

There can be several directories with the same name.





3) Delete a directory

Right-click on a directory and select "Delete directory". You can also press "delete" key. A warning window will be opened each time you try to delete something. Be aware that you will delete all your items into the selected directory too.





4) Hide/Show a directory content

Just click on + or - items on the left of the directory you want to show/hide.

5) Create a new map


Right-click on a directory and select "New map". You can't create a map into a map.

6) Set the name of a map


Right-click on a map and select "Set map name". You can also select the map and press enter to start editing. To end editing, press enter or click somewhere else.

Or you can click on "Set map..." (or when you create a new map) and then set the name in the right field.

Or click on the map toolbar button.


There can be several maps with the same name.


7) Set size of a map

Right-click on a map and select "Set map..." (or when you create a new map). Set the "width" and "height" fields. If the previous size was :
  • Higher : add an empty part on the right/bottom of your map
  • Lower : destruct a part of your map on the right/bottom
8) Delete a map

 Right-click on a map and select "Delete map" (or on the map toolbar button). You can also press "delete" key. A warning window will be opened each time you try to delete something.


III- Map editor

1) Access to the map editor

If you want to edit a map, you need to select a map on the "map selector", and then to click on this button. This will open a new window if your map.


2) Save your progress

On the toobar, press the "save" button. You can know the saving status with this icon :





3) Show/Hide grid

Press G or click on "Options > Grid" in the toolbar.

4) Move the camera/cursor position, zoom +/-

Press W, A, S, or D to move your cursor, this will move your camera on the x and y axis. You can also zoom +/- with the mouse wheel.

5) Set the camera orientation

Press your wheel mouse and move your mouse in the same time. Release your mouse when you want to stop moving.

6) Cancel an action

Press CTRL+Z or click on "Options > Cancel" in the toolbar (you can cancel 20 actions max).

7) Redo an action

 Press CTRL+Y or click on "Options > Redo" in the toolbar (you can redo 20 actions max). 
 
8) Draw with the mouse or cursor

Mouse :

Just left click on a square to apply what you want :





   

Cursor :

Press Space when you want to apply something where your cursor is.






9) Delete with the mouse or cursor

Mouse :

Just right click on a square to delete what you want (be sure you are in the right section). 

Cursor :

Press delete key when you want to delete something where your cursor is.

10) Set your height







Hover over this icon on the right of the toolbar. You can increase/descrease these two values by using your scroll wheel.

- The first item is the height according to your square size. For example, if you squares are 16 pixels sized and your value is 1, you'll be at 1*16 = 16 pixels height. Range : -9999 to 9999.
- The second item is a real pixels adding to the first item. For example, if the value is 4 with the first example, you'll have a 16 + 4 = 20 pixels height. Range : 0 to (square_size -1).

11) Set your drawing mode 









Hover over this icon on the right of the toolbar and select one of these items :
  • Pencil : draw simples points/lines (see draw floors)
  • Rectangle : draw rectangles (drag & drop)
  • Paint can : draw over all the textures you selected

12) Draw floors

By default, this is your first section. If you want the floors to be your section, click here :









After that, select the texture you want to apply here :











After this, you can draw (see "Draw with the mouse and cursor" before).

13) Delete floors

Be sure that you are in the "floor" section, and delete (see "Delete with the mouse and cursor" before).





IV- Launch your game

1) Launch your game

If you want to quickly test if your game is working, just press the button play.




2) Launch your game with the launcher

To launch your game WITH the launcher (to test its apparence), click here. If you set resolution properties into the launcher, that will be applied to the "play" button too.



V- Manage languages

Here is the languages manager :


1) Add a new language

Double click on a "< > " field, and then fill the fields of this language editor :












2) Set a short name language

In the language editor, on the field "Short name", set the name you want. You have to confirm the name by pressing the button to the right of the name field. This cannot be :

- An empty field ("")
- A short name already existing

3) Set the name of a language according to another language

In the language editor, for each page (each language), you have a name field to edit the name of a language according to another language.

Example: if you are editing a language with the short name "eng", then :
- page "eng" : name = "English"
- page "fr" : name = "French"
if you are editing a language with the short name "fr", then :
- page "eng" : name = "Anglais"
- page "fr" : name = "Français"

Why ? This will be usefull for players changing the game language.

4) Set the languages priority (and default language)

In the languages manager, select the language you want to up/down and click on arrows to set the languages priority. The language on top of the list will be the default language of your game.


5) Delete a language

In the languages manager, select the language youwant to delete, and just press on delete key. If you have only one language into your list, you will not be able to delete this one.

6) Use a text field language

First, what is a text field language ? This is a simple text field with a flag on the right like this :





"I want to have a different text for each language!" :

Click on the flag, this will open a new window :











"I want to have the same text for ALL my languages!" :

 Double click or press enter on the field, this will open a new window :









7) Display/Set all the texts using a text field language

If you are not sure all your texts are translated, you can take a look on the "Display texts" into the languages manager, this will open a new window where you can see and set all your text field languages :
